Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're considering swimming lessons for yourself or your child, looking for information about our pool facilities, or wondering which sessions are right for you, we've answered some of the questions we're asked most often below.

If you can't find the information you're looking for, our friendly team will be happy to help.
Do I need to be able to swim before joining a lesson?
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced swimmers. Our lessons are designed to support swimmers at every stage, helping build confidence, water safety skills and technique at a pace that feels comfortable.
What age can children start swimming lessons?
Children can begin their swimming journey from a young age through our introductory programmes. We offer lessons for a range of ages and abilities, helping children develop confidence and essential life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Do you offer swimming lessons for adults?
Yes. Whether you've never learned to swim, feel nervous in the water, or simply want to improve your technique, our adult lessons provide expert instruction in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
What should I bring for a swimming lesson or swim session?
We recommend bringing suitable swimwear, a towel, goggles if preferred, and any personal items you may need. Children may also require a swim hat depending on the lesson or session requirements.
Can I swim without booking lessons?
Absolutely. We offer a variety of public swimming and lane swimming sessions throughout the week, allowing you to enjoy the pool for fitness, relaxation or general recreation.
What are the benefits of swimming?
Swimming is one of the best all-round forms of exercise. It improves cardiovascular fitness, builds strength, supports mobility, increases confidence and is gentle on joints, making it suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Do you offer private swimming lessons?
Yes. We provide one-to-one and two-to-one lessons for swimmers who would benefit from more personalised instruction. These sessions are ideal for nervous swimmers, adults learning later in life, or those looking to accelerate their progress.
Is the pool heated?
Yes. Our 25-metre pool is heated to provide a comfortable environment for swimming lessons, fitness sessions and recreational swimming throughout the year.
Can I hire the pool for a group or event?
Yes. Pool hire is available for schools, clubs, organisations and community groups. Please contact us to discuss availability and your specific requirements.
How do I know which session is right for me?
Our team is always happy to help. Whether you're looking for lessons, lane swimming, water mobility sessions or general swimming, we'll guide you towards the most suitable option based on your goals and experience.
Is swimming suitable for people recovering from injury or with mobility concerns?
Swimming and aquatic exercise can be an excellent low-impact way to stay active, improve mobility and support rehabilitation. Our water mobility sessions are particularly popular with those looking for a gentler form of exercise.
